The ISP has also raised the amount of data you can have before getting shaped from 3GB to 5GB. That’s still a tad tragic for a $90 plan.

The same money from the same company on ADSL gets you an allowance of 12GB, and there are competitors offering more data for your dollar.

But hey, at least those people who can’t get ADSL at all, and therefore can’t get the benefit of competition, won’t get slugged with outrageous excess data fees just for collecting their email every day.

Of course, those we can’t get any ADSL are suffering zero competition because the so-called competitors to

Telstra don’t bother transmitting wireless signals outside the capital cities.

Well why would they?

They’re not going to make any kind of return on their investment.

Which means, once again, that we need government regulation to force competition to blossom in the bush, or failing that, a subsidy to bring the cost of wireless down to the same price as ADSL.

And no, we’re not interested in bleatings about the previous government not doing anything about it for ten years.

We had enough bleatings for the past ten years from the previus government about the government before them doing nothing for ten years.

That’s twenty years of excuses piled up against doing any damn thing at all. We just want the Internet to be available nationally and affordably.

In case nobody noticed, using the Internet uses far less fossil fuels than driving into town.

So we can help with the fight against climate change at the same time as helping the country get online.

Works for me.
