Open source Alfresco targets SIs

Open source enterprise content management provider Alfresco Software today announced the expansion of its Australian and New Zealand partner base of system integrators (SI).

Alfresco said its free community had surpassed two million and new customers in Australia and New Zealand had increased during the past year.

The company planned to increase its system integration partners to meet its enterprise product sales requirements.

Since launching in 2005, the London-based company has had a US and European market focus. It appointed territory manager, Barry Costin in July to kick off its APAC presence.

“I’ve been brought on board to put the foot on the accelerator in Australia and New Zealand and then the Asia Pacific," Costin told CRN.

“We’re moving a pre-sales guy from the US to help us operate here. We’ve had growth, we just need to scale,” he said.

Current partners include  Lateral Minds, Seed Information Management in Australia. And in New Zealand partners include  Solnet Solution, Techtonics and Iknow Group.

Alfresco claimed it planned to more than triple its number of SIs across Australia by the end of 2011.

“Our focus to date has been in Europe and North America and APAC has been random. We’re typically looking to partner with system integrators who expertise is knowledge management," Costin said.

He said Alfreso sought "predominately companies that have competing document management partners and want to bring onboard an open source alternative."

Alfresco said 60 percent of its global revenue came from subscriptions to Alfresco Enterprise, delivered via channel partners.
