ONEmobile enters administration

ispONE retail brand ONEmobile has been placed under external administration. The company is the latest mobile virtual network operator to be hit by the demise of the wholesale ISP.

ispONE is currently the subject of an asset sale process being led by insolvency group Ferrier Hodgson, but that doesn't appear to have prevented the wind up of ONEmobile which onsold services on the Optus network.

A document lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission last night shows Ferrier Hodgson is also the administrator for ONEmobile.

ispONE collapsed earlier this month in the middle of a court case with its supplier Telstra, which was threatening to terminate ispONE's prepaid mobile service due to unpaid debts of around $12 million.

Prior to its demise, ispONE registered a new business name as part of a company rebrand it said would “secure its ongoing service offering” and “protect its wholesale partners”.

Comment is being sought from Optus.
