NSW jails corners Argus

It takes more than bars and officers to ensure maximum security in NSW jails.

Australian-owned biometric software specialist, Argus Solutions, has been appointed by a NSW correctional facility for the supply of its Cornerstone software.

Argus was unable to name the correctional facility, but said the contract was worth $130,000.

The win followed Argus' deal with NSW Police, to provide additional annual service and support contract for the PhotoTrac installation.

The product helps with response times when front line police are seeking to identify persons of interest

The service and support contract was worth approximately $250,000.

Argus is no stranger to the law in NSW, having won a $400,000 tender from the NSW Police Force to upgrade and enhance its biometrics infrastructure, in December last year.

As well as having won an order from the NSW Department of Corrective Services (NSW DCS) for the supply of its identity management solution, in October 2008.

The rollout was based on Argus' proprietary product - Cornerstone - which made use of both fingerprint and iris recognition biometric technologies.

Bruce Lyman, CEO at Argus, said, the order - worth around $240,000 - would see the company as the prime contractor and integrator of a state wide centrally served identity solution.
