Macquarie Government has been named a launch partner of the New South Wales government’s cloud services marketplace buy.nsw.
The company will provide insights for government agencies looking to transition to the cloud, and is part of the NSW government’s efforts to speed up its digital transformation.
MacGov will also provide secure single or diverse path telco services, including from within NSW GovDC and its own data centres in Sydney or Canberra. The services feature managed security services such as firewalls, SIEMaaS, private connectivity and internet access.
“We are proud our skills in cloud have been recognised by the NSW Department of Finances, Services and Innovation,” Macquarie Government head of business development for NSW government Angela Anderson said.
“The new online procurement platform, buy.nsw, is an important initiative in further transforming the NSW Government’s use of technology. It will take away much of the pain and uncertainty for agencies trying to select the right technology partners.”
Anderson added that buy.nsw creates a level playing field for ICT service providers, empowering buying agencies to make good decisions.
It also provides agencies with an alternate contractual vehicle for cloud services, substituting for the current NSW government Short Form Contract and Procure IT 3.2 contracts.
NSW government CIO Greg Wells said agencies will be able to match services with their needs, and put together an ICT environment that is “flexible, adaptable and efficient.”
He added that there will be more opportunities for Australian businesses become better informed without the need of intermediaries.
“buy.nsw will offer a vibrant and competitive marketplace for agencies, allowing them to choose from local providers represented by Macquarie Government, as well as international hyperscalers to match cloud services to their individual needs,” Wells said.
