NSC wins contract with Hobsons

NSC has beaten the likes of Cisco and Alcatel to implement an Avaya IP telephony and contact centre solution for Hobsons Australia, a university placement agency.

Craig Neil, managing director at NSC, told CRN the deal was worth about $250,000 which also includes servicing for three years.

"Hobsons provides careers and university placement advice to students. It also handles the education allowance for the government," said Neil.

"It went out to tender about six months ago. It took a while but Hobsons was thorough in its selection.

"NSC was one of four companies that were shortlisted. There were also two bids from Cisco and one from Alcatel."

Neil said the under the contract, Hobsons will purchase an Avaya S8300 server and G450 gateway, Avaya Communication Manager 5, Avaya Contact Centre Express and Contact Centre Elite, Call Management System reporting package, 110 IP handsets and Enterasys switches.

"The suite of products replaces an aging Panasonic PABX," said Neil.

"Avaya's call centre product was chosen because it can be used to take the load off staff."

Hobsons handles about 13,000 in-bound calls per month and 11,000 outbound calls via its 1800 information number for inquiries about higher education institutions in Australia.
