Nintendo Wii slated for November launch in US
The forthcoming Nintendo Wii gaming console is scheduled to launch on 19 November in the US, followed by Japan on 2 December, the console maker has revealed.

A company spokesman said that European pricing and availability will be revealed on 15 September.

US consumers will be charged US$249.99 for a basic configuration, including a remote control, five sports games and the Nunchuk wireless controller which operates as a handheld pointing device to detect motion in 3D.

Nintendo promised to have 30 games available before the end of the year. Titles developed for the Nintendo GameCube can also be played on the Wii.

Nintendo is the last of the three major console makers to launch its next-generation machine.

Microsoft took a head start with the Xbox 360 in November 2005, while Sony is scheduled to launch its PlayStation 3 on 11 November in Japan and 17 November in the US. The European PlayStation 3 launch has been delayed until March next year.
