ZacWare, online video and eCommerce software provider, announced it has been selected by NetRegistry to provide its Freeway eCommerce system following an extensive review of eight potential platforms. Netregistry plans to resell the products to its customers, such as online stores, who are in need of eCommerce solutions.
“The nature of Freeway will enable NetRegistry to gain access to a world-wide open source developer network,” said Damien Hickey, chief executive officer, ZacWare.
According to Hickey, changes in eCommerce software are about to take place in relation to Visa’s Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) certification. Visa will be implementing a series of mandates to eliminate the use of non-secure payment applications from the Visa payment system.
“ZacWare’s Freeway eCommerce software system is one step ahead of the game in the sense that it is already compliant with these measures,” said Hickey.
NetRegistry was recently ranked third globally in an independent evaluation into the quality of customer service and support delivered by the world’s top 50 web hosting companies. According to Brett Fenton, chief operating officer, NetRegistry, Freeway is a natural fit for the company.
“By dealing with an Australian company, NetRegistry will be able to access a level of instant technical support that is much harder to reach when outsourcing overseas,” said Fenton. “In addition, the Open Source nature of Freeway meant that ZacWare was happy to take our suggestions on board and adapt the software to suit our needs.”
NetRegistry will begin to rollout ZacWare’s Freeway eCommerce system in January, 2008.
