Simon Raik-Allen has resigned as a top technology advisor of Australian accounting software company MYOB to pursue his own startup venture full-time, a spokesperson told CRN.
Raik-Allen left the company in June and, according to LinkedIn, is the founder of a startup currently in stealth mode.
In a LinkedIn post, he said the startup was based on a new concept in astronomy called 'The Big Crunch', a theory where the expansion of space eventually reverses.
Raik-Allen said he was working with Sydney-based startup accelerator Startmate, and was looking for people to assist him with “casual front-end development work”. He described the venture as a "novel online data, application, and collaboration platform".
CRN reached out to Raik-Allen, who was hesitant to give further details on the venture, saying he would divulge more on the startup at a later date.
Prior to his post as chief technology advisor, Raik-Allen served as the chief technology officer of MYOB from 2010 to 2016, before the position was removed as part of a restructuring in May this year.
He had also worked in various companies in Silicon Valley, as well as for Melbourne-based digital services agency Hyro.
MYOB veteran Keran McKenzie will be taking on some of Raik-Allen's responsibilities, assuming the role of “futurist in residence.” He had previously served as platform evangelist for the company’s API and add-on ecosystem.
