Motorola Solutions has promoted director of services Con Balaskas to become its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Balaskas replaces Steve Crutchfield, who took on “an expanded government and public safety leadership role” across the company’s Asia-Pacific business.

In the new role, Balaskas will remain Motorola Solutions’ services lead while also leading the ANZ senior leadership team.

In the announcement released today, Crutchfield said, “Con has led some of Motorola Solutions’ largest and most complex projects including the planning and delivery of our significant public safety programs in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.”

“His strong relationships with Motorola Solutions’ customers and team members throughout Australia and New Zealand will serve him well in his new role.”

Balaskas has worked for Motorola Solutions since 2000, joining as a systems network engineer following stints at Optus Vision and Phillips. He later moved into a number of management roles before being appointed director of services in 2013.

In the announcement, Balaskas said ANZ is “a technologically mature market” and early adopters of “advanced innovations”.

“Public safety and enterprise organisations in this region are committed to innovation and open to exploring new solutions and ideas,” Balaskas said.

“I’m looking forward to continuing our strong partnerships with local customers and channel partners to co-develop highly advanced voice, video and software solutions.”
