Vanessa Sorenson, the New Zealand MD for Microsoft, has departed the business.

She first joined in October 2017 as enterprise director for NZ, taking over the leadership of Microsoft in the country in April 2020, as well as leading the GPS ANZ partner team from 2022.

Prior to Microsoft, she GM of Spark New Zealand, having worked at the company since 1998.

In a post on LinkedIn, Sorenson said working at Microsoft was "one of the most rewarding experiences" of her career.

"To the teams I've had the privilege to lead, thank you for your trust, energy and commitment. It has truly been an honour," she stated.

"I am most proud of the impact with our Diversity and Inclusion programmes and working alongside an exceptional group of people to bring the New Zealand Datacentres to our New Zealand shores. The past 4 years partnering with our ANZ partners has also been deeply for filling and a highlight of my time with Microsoft."
