Microsoft Australia's internet of things lead Lee Hickin has joined cloud rival Amazon Web Services after more than decade with the company.
Hickin will continue working as the IoT business lead for AWS for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore.
According to LinkedIn, he will be responsible for marketing, sales and partner development around the AWS IoT platform in the region.
AWS revealed its IoT platform in October last year, and will see devices connect to Amazon's Lambda serverless computing, Kinesis streaming data and S3 storage, for example.
Microsoft also put skin in the IoT game in Australia last year, recruiting nine well-known Microsoft partners to form the IoT group, which includes BizData, CDM, Empired, Ignia, Mexia, Oakton, MOQDigital, RAMP and Readify.
Hickin joined Microsoft Australia in 2005 and took the IoT lead role ten years later. According LinkedIn, he was responsible for driving Microsoft's business plan for IoT along with creating the partner channel for enterprise customers.
Hickin said he was unable to comment directly on the new role. Microsoft has also been contacted for comment.
