Australian and New Zealand Oracle and Microsoft partner Fusion5 has been named the Asia-Pacific Dynamics services partner of the year during Microsoft Inspire 2017 in Washington DC.
The trans-Tasman business solutions provider was gonged among global Dynamics partners midway through the Microsoft’s rebranded worldwide partner conference, and just four months after it acquired Melbourne-based Dynamics specialist Myriad IT.
The acquisition grew Fusion5 to a 380-head company with 750 customers across the region, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and across New Zealand.
The merger saw Myriad’s business solutions manager, Paul Griffin, step up to manage Fusion5’s Dynamics practice, which now boasts about 80 staff. Griffin spoke to CRN during the conference, saying the transition had gone well and the Dynamics practice was growing.
“It’s a been a big change for the business, and been a great change. It’s allowed us to expand our Microsoft practice across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
“Since the merge, we’ve started building into the Microsoft ERP space, so we’ve started building a team in NZ, we’ve also now got a dedicated sales person in Australia in that area, so that’s going to be a fairly strong push for us this financial year, especially with a well-aligned Dynamics 365 area it makes sense for us to expand in that space and make it the one story.”
Fusion5 attributes a mixture of good projects, business growth through the recent mergers, and engagement with the Microsoft brand to their recognition.
“I think the way we’ve grown the Microsoft ecosystem with multiple sales and projects, and the way we’re engaging closely with them and trying to work more in partnership has gone a long way as well,” Griffin added.
Looking ahead, Fusion5 will be working on a significant sporting contract as well as some education projects and expects Microsoft’s new industry-focused partner model to fit well with the projects the team work on and hope to attract in the future.
“The new Microsoft model helps because now we can align with them on specialisations in certain areas,” Griffin said. “Where before [the model] was less focused on industry and more tailored to product.”
Australian Microsoft partner Barhead Solutions was also recognised for its work in the Dynamics space, being named the Dynamics APAC ISV partner of the year.
