Megaport signs Verizon, Fujitsu in double victory

Megaport has announced Fujitsu as a global reseller and Verizon Media Digital Services as a new customer of its interconnection capabilities.

Verizon Media Digital Services is a content distribution business that has signed up with Megaport to utilise direct connections in any city where both Megaport and Verizon are present.

"Localising traffic through direct connections enables fast and reliable performance to key content for Verizon Digital Media Services’ direct customers," Megaport said in its announcement Thursday.

Verizon will make use of Megaport Internet Exchanges in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore, and access the Megaport Elastic Fabric in several US locations including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and Dallas. The content delivery provider will join more Megaport Internet Exchanges in the future in Europe and other locations outside the USA.

“We’re excited to work with Megaport to further develop our network, so that internet users can quickly and reliably access online content, no matter where they are," said Verizon Digital Media Services chief technology officer Rob Peters.

In a separate deal, Fujitsu was announced Wednesday as a new Megaport global reseller, meaning the Japanese company's infrastructure customers will have access to Megaport's on-demand cloud services.

The resale agreement was launched with the go-live of Megaport 'points of presence' in Fujitsu's Perth and Sydney data centres.

"The alliance allows Fujitsu to offer its customers fast and efficient ways of provisioning connections to cloud services, including Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services," announced Fujitsu.

With the deal, Fujitsu has claimed the mantle of the first Megaport reseller in Western Australia.

The two companies also said that the Megaport Fabric product would enable end customers to "directly connect with Fujitsu's leading managed services across a globally distributed platform".

"Customers can utilise the Megaport portal or API to order direct, elastic connectivity, thereby expanding the reach of Fujitsu's managed services to additional customer segments and service markets," stated Fujitsu.
