MacTel, Superloop join NSW govt telco panel

The New South Wales government’s Department of Customer Services has added new suppliers to its telecommunications panel.

The telecommunications purchasing arrangement (TPA) now includes Ace Internet Services, Activ8me, Macquarie Telecom, Premier Technologies, Kinetix Networks, Superloop and Tasmanet.

They join eight incumbent suppliers: Optus, Telstra, TPG, Vocus, MyNetFone, Transgrid, Vertel and Digital Distribution Australia.

The TPA covers a range of telecommunications services including fixed data, internet, fixed voice, mobile and SD-WAN. It was formed in July 2018 and runs until June 2023, with two extension options included.

The panel’s aim was to standardise services, improve competition and value for money through lower unit prices.

The department also updated the service catalogue with new services and options across internet, fixed data, fixed voice, mobile and network applications service towers. One notable addition was improved support for enterprise-grade NBN services.

The new suppliers are already compliant with the new catalogue while the incumbents are expected to meet compliance by December 2019.
