LogMeIn is the latest firm to offer a client for Apple's new iPad device, in this case a version of the LogMeIn Ignition tool that enables users to remotely control a Windows PC or Mac computer.
Available now on the iTunes App Store, the new version of LogMeIn Ignition supports the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, adapting automatically to the display size of the device being used.
However, the iPad version offers improved display, rendering and navigation to take advantage of the better hardware support, according to LogMeIn.
"With this latest version of LogMeIn Ignition, customers can use their iPad, iPhone or iPod to instantly and securely access their digital lives from wherever they are in the world," said Andrew Burton, vice president for access and management at LogMeIn.
Wyse and Citrix have already launched clients for the iPad that enable the device to remotely access virtual Windows desktops.
LogMeIn Ignition can be used in combination with LogMeIn Free or LogMeIn Pro2, the company's web-based tool for remotely accessing Windows or Mac computers running the LogMeIn host service.
New customers can download LogMeIn Ignition from the iTunes App Store for US$29.99 (A$32.26 ), while users of the current Ignition iPhone and iPod touch can get a free update.
