Services provider Logica has added over 20 new permanent roles to its Canberra team in the last six months, growing its team there to 33.
The company said it was slowly replacing a team that serviced public sector customers from other states with a permanent Canberra workforce.
Recent contract wins for Logica include, CrimTrac, National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
Colin Holgate, CEO for Asia Pacific at Logica said that to sustain growth and support government clients "we have recruited a range of highly experienced IT professionals including project managers and technical architects".
Prior to Christmas, Paul Sargeant was promoted to a newly created role of industry director for Government & Transport and will lead Logica's public sector team.
Sargeant is heading up the company's client relationship development strategy for the public sector, driving market development.
Most recently Sargeant was the industry account manager for Government & Transport for Logica.
"Logica has a deep understanding of the issues facing the [Public] sector and our business is growing rapidly in this area as a direct result," said Sargeant.
Logica's Canberra team has also newly appointed Wade Randall, as state delivery manager.
Randall is responsible for the delivery of all IT projects including managed services across the ACT.
His experience includes project management roles for a number of Australian and UK based public service organisations, including the Australian Defence Department and London City councils.
Logica has also relocated Darren O'Shannassy from Melbourne to Canberra.
He brings over 20 years experience in IT consulting services for organisations in the public sector.
O'Shannassy has held previous roles at Capgemini and Ernst & Young.

The expansion is planned to continue throughout the year, Logica said in statement.
