Linksys’ iPhone Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit with Skype (CIT400), a dual-mode wireless handset and base-station package allows users to choose to make calls to Skype users over the Internet without the need for a computer, has been launched into the local market.
As part of the Linksys iPhone family, the CIT400 iPhone embeds the Skype communications client into a cordless phone base station that is attached directly to the home network via Ethernet.
Graeme Reardon, regional director for Australia and New Zealand at Linksys said the ‘voice solutions’ enable internet services, allow consumers to know when their contacts are available for calls, and offer access to personal content like music, movies and live video cameras.
"The CIT400 also supports SkypeOut and SkypeIn dialing as well as offering a convenient Skype contact list display and CallerID functionality. The handset also supports call waiting and Skype's optional voicemail service. When users are on a call, they can hit the Mute button for privacy, or use the speakerphone function to let everyone join in the conversation,” he said.
The handset also includes a number of convenient features for Skype users; 2-in-1 Wireless DECT handset for Skype and standard telephone line; route calls between Skype or standard telephone line (PSTN); plug and dial – easy to install and easy to use; expandable up to 4 handsets with a single base station; hands-free Speakerphone with one key touch; graphical colour LCD display with status indicators; status display of Skype contact list, Skype Voicemail, and SkypeOut credit; polyphonic MIDI ringer melodies on handset; 120 hours standby time, 10 hours talk time; voice encryption for security and updates on the Skype client.
The Linksys Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit with Skype (CIT400) is immediately available through major retailers, online resellers and VARs for recommended retail price of $239.95.
