Lan 1 to distribute Motorola wireless security solutions

The two companies are also looking for partners interested in taking the solution to market.

Companies that are CISSP certified and operating in the IT security services, planning, validation, consulting and PCI compliance spaces are encouraged to contact Motorola for information.  
 
Motorola completed its acquisition of AirDefense in September 2008. Its flagship product, AirDefense Enterprise is the Wireless Intrusion Detection/Protection (IDS/IPS) solution used by the US Federal Government and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

Paul Blinkhorn, Australia country manager, and vice president, Enterprise Mobility, Motorola A/NZ said the acquisition was the next logical step in a three-year OEM partnership.

"Wireless networks are a significant part of the workforce productivity equation; however, they are also susceptible to security threats," he said.

"Our partnership with Lan 1 will respond to local customer demand for storing and mining long-term, forensic quality information for security investigations, and assist with the latest wireless security compliance. "

The AirDefense solution recognises all WLAN devices, identifies rogue behaviour and distinguishes neighbouring devices from rogue devices connected to the network.  

Christo Simeonoff, manager of IP Security Business, Lan 1, said it was eager to unite with Motorola to enforce secure wireless mobility as local customers migrate to 802.11n, mesh networking and fixed-mobile convergence.

"The AirDefense solution has been successfully delivered to hundreds of leading enterprises internationally, so we're confident about the benefits it will now offer local markets," he said.

"Together with Motorola we'll continue to exceed the global needs of the WIPS market and give customers comprehensive wireless security regardless of their WLAN infrastructure."
