LAN 1 bridges VoIP gap
Local IP products distributor Lan 1 has signed a distribution deal with US-based software PBX vendor, pbxnsip.

The deal will see the distributor offering pbxnsip’s PBX software product, which allows legacy phone systems to talk to VoIP systems within an organisation, said John Hamill, technical director Lan 1.

“The software provides virtual PBX connectivity via a Web interface. It is compatible with Windows or Linux and is based on SIP standards,” he said.

Hamill said Lan 1 plans to bundle the software, along a few other products in its stable including, VegaStream hardware and D-Link SIP handsets.

“However resellers don’t have to use the handset products we offer. The software is capable of running on any phone hardware,” he said.

Lan 1 will also offer resellers a free evaluation of the software, said Hamill.

“We will also offer channel partners any help they need with pre-configuring hardware,” he said.

The software features include auto attendant, call forward, mailbox, conferencing and security. It can be connected to a VoIP telco service, PSTN or ISDN gateway, said Hamill.

"This product will bridge our technical range of products including firewalls, VPNs and wireless harware. For us voice is the next part of our package," he said.
