Former VMware channel chief John Donovan has been revealed as the new regional executive for security vendor ForgeRock.

CRN reported last month that Donovan, on the eve of VMware's major annual conference vForum, had left the company to take up a new challenge setting up an Australian presence for a multinational.

This morning identity management specialist ForgeRock announced Donovan as its new regional vice president for Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN (south-east Asia).

"It's super from my perspective. I did 13 years in security with Symantec, this lets me set the whole thing up with them and run it across APJ," Donovan told CRN last month.

Donovan has been a high-profile figure in the Australian channel in the past two decades, rising through the ranks during his time at Symantec to end up ANZ managing director and Asia-Pacific channel vice president. He was also Novell's Asia-Pacific channel vice president, before joining VMware in October 2010 as director of channels.

"I look forward to working with our dedicated partners to support our customers at a time when they are maturing their efforts and need identity management solutions that support their drive to innovate in the sharing economy," he said.

Donovan has also been a panel member of the federal government's Critical Infrastructure Taskforce, as well as being a board member of the Business Software Association of Australia and the Internet industry Association.

ForgeRock comes to Australia ranked at number 442 in the Cybersecurity 500 list, as revealed by analyst firm Cybersecurity Ventures earlier this year.
