John Donovan, VMware's Australian and New Zealand channel boss, has resigned from the company after more than five years.
"We thank John for his considerable contributions to VMware during his five years here, and we wish him the best in his next endeavour," a vendor spokesperson told CRN.
Donovan has already parted ways with VMware, and told CRN he was getting ready for a new role setting up the regional presence of an international security company.
"It's super from my perspective. I did 13 years in security with Symantec, this lets me set the whole thing up with them and run it across APJ."
He will be the regional vice-president of the unnamed vendor, marking a move back into top management for Donovan, who spent six years as managing director of Symantec Australia and New Zealand between 1999 and 2005.
Since then, Donovan has spent the past decade in channel roles, with three years as VP of channels for Symantec in APJ, then two years running the Novell channel across the region before joining VMware in 2010.
His departure comes on the eve of VMware's major local conference, vForum 2015, which takes place in Sydney on 21-22 October.
Major VMware developments in recent years included the local launch of its vCloud Air platform in Australia, which has been marketed to its 2,000 local resellers,
The company recently landed a major scalp in Ray Maisano, the former HP Networking chief who was appointed as VMware's ANZ sales chief across networking, storage and data centre last month.
