The IT sector saw a slight increase in the number of management jobs listed last month, according to a Job Index.
The E.L Consult Executive Demand Index found that there was a five percent gain relative to the other sectors in June.
"Although its performance in recent months has not been smooth, the IT sector continues to hang on to the extraordinary gains of November 2004," stated the report from E.L Consult.
The report described NSW and Victoria as achieving "solid results" in job ads, both the government and business sectors. In contrast, there were "retractions in demand" in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and the ACT.
Across all sectors, E.L Consult found the overall demand for executives in June was 28 percent, compared to the previous month.
Grant Montgomery, managing director at E.L Consult, said that demand for executives was "hotting up", with increased confidence in the economy.
Montgomery said that the IT sector had only seen a small gain in this month's Index, after resisting the downward trend in the previous month.
Examples of some of the job titles included in its IT Index were CIO, MIS manager, network manager, specialist programmer and systems architect, according to the report.
