The family of VoIP telephone systems give companies up to 400 users a turn key business telephone solution based on Asterisk software.
The systems are open platform and offer support for a wide range of SIP terminals but they will be packaged by Wavelink with the Polycom range of SoundPoint SIP handsets.
Digium created and is the driving force behind the open source Asterisk telephony project and Switchvox is an IP PBX based on Asterisk.
“One of the benefits of Switchvox systems is their rapid setup, enabling systems to be up and running supporting calls almost as soon as they come out of the box,” said Jonathan Ordman, director of Wavelink.
“Systems can also be easily upgraded as customers need more features or add users. The result is more options for customers that let them get rid of expensive phone systems, yet keep all the functionality of a PBX designed for the largest businesses,” he added.
With Switchvox’s Switchboard interface, users can create their own custom screens on their PC to control their phone extension, providing integration with applications such as CRM packages and other websites such as Google maps.
According to Ordman, in this way, when individuals receive calls, they can have useful information from internal company databases or external Web applications automatically displayed, e.g., a real estate agent sees the properties his caller has expressed interest in, a hiring manager sees the blogs and Facebook page his caller has created and a doctor's receptionist sees insurance information for the caller all in real time.
“It is these types of powerful features that drive the expansion of Switchvox's target market, both up-market to larger businesses and down into the smallest organisations, which can truly benefit from this type of efficiency boost,” he added.
