Internode to offer $99 NBN-ready router

ISP Internode has bolstered the hardware line-up it recommends to customers on fibre internet connections such as Tasmania's NBN with a new residential router that costs less than $100.

Product manager Jim Kellett told CRN that Internode had decided to offer the Netcomm router to its customers on fibre networks owned by NBN Tasmania, Opticomm, Telstra (Point Cook) and OPENetworks.

The new router will cost $99 - far less than the $229 cost of an Apple AirPort Extreme, which Internode had been recommending for users accessing its fibre services up until now.

Kellett said that at least one of its customers on the national broadband network in Tasmania had been asked to test the router for the ISP.

The company signed up its first customers to the national broadband network in Tasmania this month.
