The simply named Education Tablets arrive alongside Intel's Classmate laptop line for schools. A 7in and 10in version are available, both running Android Jelly Bean.
Both tablets are preloaded with education apps and tools, including an ebook reader, and are supported by classroom management software for teachers.
The 7in model runs a 1.2GHz Atom chip, features 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, which is expandable via a micro SD card. The LCD panel is 1,024 x 600, and Intel said the tablet offers eight hours of battery life. It features two USB 2 ports and weighs in at 355g.
The 10in tablet features a 1,280 x 800 display, runs a 1.6GHz chip, and comes with a stylus, with the other specs similar to that of the 7in unit.
The Education Tablets have a few other intriguing features, "such as a snap-on magnification lens, which supports inquiry-based learning with close-up views, and a plug-in thermal probe that expands the type of experimentation and exploration possible," Intel said.
Prices weren't immediately available; Intel normally makes devices as reference designs for partners to manufacture.
