Ingram targets electricity bills with Certero

Ingram Micro has partnered with UK-headquartered power management vendor Certero for the distribution of its PC management tool PowerStudio in Australia.

Certero, which opened a Sydney office in September, helps businesses identify computer usage trends and set centralised power policies in accordance with user activity.

Businesses could create a policy to automatically switch off monitors and place PCs into standby or hibernation when idle. Certero claimed the tool could contribute to green computing targets and energy savings.

Ingram Micro’s enterprise technology group director David Lenz said the distributor was "especially pleased" to partner with Certero against a backdrop of increasing electricity prices.

"We believe businesses in Australia will continue to look towards reducing their computer fleet electricity bills and reducing their Co2 emissions. PowerStudio is a timely and powerful desktop energy management tool and typically provides a very fast ROI of around 4 months," Lenz said.

Certero regional manager Phil Hare said: “Ingram Micro’s commanding position in the Australian distribution market places the company in a very strong position to take PowerStudio to the Australian market."
