Ingram Micro enters into security surveillance arena

Despite its global success, Swann Communication hopes to utilise Ingram Micro’s ‘logisitcs skills’ to help distribute its products to existing channel partners.

Stuart Burtenshaw, Australian sales manager at Swann Communications said Ingram Micro will help assist Swann Communications to expand in the Australian market, at a cost effective and achievable rate.

“We have been talking with Ingram for several months and we are not very good distributing our products to a lot of existing partners. It was a matter of using Ingram’s logistic skills and getting our products out to the channel as quickly as possible,” he said.

Home-grown Swann Communications is a provider of security monitoring solutions and IT peripherals targeting consumers through retail channels. It has sustained growth and success has been based on designing and developing surveillance technology that is innovative yet cost effective.

Burtenshaw said the vendor wants the deal to gain market share with the SMB channel because there are a lot of small businesses that are on the hunt of surveillance systems that are low in cost and easy to install.

The company’s products are mainly do-it-yourself (DIY) product packaging aimed at home, office and small-to-medium retail users.

For customers needing more high-tech solutions, Swann Communications also has a range of products including wireless connectivity, professional quality CCTV cameras with infra-red night vision, digital video recording with motion detection and networkability, web surveillance and remote notification.

“We look forward to our business through Ingram Micro's extensive network of retail and business-to-business customers," said Burtenshaw.

Swann Communications serves 70 major blue-chip retailers, including Harvey Norman and Good Guys. All point-of-sales material and marketing information will be available from Swann.
