Ingram hires Telstra heavyhitter to grow cloud
Richard Duggan, Ingram Micro

Ingram Micro has appointed former Telstra Global executive Richard Duggan to drive its cloud push in Asia Pacific.

Duggan came onboard as APAC executive director of Ingram Micro Cloud around three weeks ago, having previously served as executive vice-president, solution sales and channels, for Telstra Global. Both are Singapore-based roles.

Duggan's CV included a short stint as HP's director of cloud sales for Asia-Pacific and Japan, and around a decade at Cisco, including senior roles in cloud and channel.

"I see Ingram as being in a great position to take advantage of the current market transition to cloud, to be able to provide a consistent distribution partner for our resellers as they go through that transition," said Duggan.

Ingram Micro recently opened up to CRN about its Australian cloud strategy. The distie has built up a division, headed by country manager of cloud & managed services Danny Dainton, and is launching the second version of its cloud marketplace, built on the Parallels platform.

Now Duggan hopes to take this model across the region.

"I have come onboard to lead our expansion in the Asia Pacific region and I'm based in Singapore so as the change that has already happening in Australia where we have invested in a cloud team, we are planning to do that in different markets."

News of Duggan's appointment comes as Ingram Micro has been announced as one of Microsoft's new '2-Tier Cloud Solution Provider' partners, essentially a wholesaler of Office 365.
