HP announces new products, solutions and services

Jim Wagstaff, vice president and general manager,  StorageWorks Division, HP APJ said CIOs are focused on strategic cost reductions and supporting long-term business growth.

He added best-in-class IT organisations spend about half as much as the average company on technology as a percentage of revenue. Instead, they strategically spend and prioritise technology investments.

The new offering from HP includes;

HP StorageWorks Storage-Area Network (SAN) Virtualisation Solutions to simplify the provisioning, management and optimisation of virtualised server and storage environments.

HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array 6400 and 8400 (EVA6400 and EVA8400) to cut storage administration costs by up to 50 percent.

The enhanced HP SAN Virtualisation Services Platform 2.1 (SVSP 2.1), a network-based storage virtualisation solution that increases available storage capacity.

Enhanced HP Data Protector for software and services.

"HP has seen a four-fold increase in EVA shipments in Australia since launching the HP StorageWorks EVA4400 in March 2008," said Deke Rayner-Harvey, HP Partner Business Manager.

"This is a substantial installed base that our channel partners can easily build on as they already have the skills to follow the easy upgrade path from the EVA4400 to the EVA6400/8400" he added.

As part of its Applications Management Services portfolio, EDS, an HP company, is offering clients the option of tiered levels of service, which lower the cost of running less-critical applications.

Other services include the Consolidation and Virtualisation ROI Services and the Multi-Tiered Hybrid Design, which helps customers design an entire data centre facility to reflect the infrastructure and availability requirements of the business.

There is also an enhanced suite of EDS infrastructure services called Managed Services which give clients more sourcing choices and control through a set of modular packages.

The offerings cover server and storage operations, service desk and managed messaging.
