If things go as planned, the amount of Hotspots in Australia could increase dramatically. Hotspot Global has devised a plan that will allow smaller ISPs to get into the Hotspot business. Hotspot Global has developed software that acts like a middleman between small ISPs and Australia's four major Hotspot providers. This means that now small ISPs can offer wireless Internet access to their customers but don't have to spend millions on creating the actual Hotspots. They can rely on major players Hotspot infrastructure but provide roaming access to these places so their customers could have access at virtually any Hotspot. With a viable way for small ISPs to get into the action, their participation should drive an increase in Australia's overall Hotspot footprint.

Hotspot Global's software will also enable sponsorship of log in pages, so businesses in the vicinity of a specific Hotspot can send their marketing messages to users logging in there.
Although the specifics are sketchy, Hotspot Global plans to launch its service at the end of September in 14 cities in 12 countries. In Australia, Hotspot Global is working with eight ISPs.
