Google has posted an update for its Commerce Search retail search tool.
The company said that the updated tool will allow online merchants to better customise their retail site search services.
Google launched the Commerce Search service late last year. The tool allows merchants to use Google engine for individual item searches within a site.
Google said that the update will allow merchants to better customise their search services through the addition of a 'dashboard' management interface. The interface will allow retailers to better manage rankings, special promotions and search filters.
Additionally, the update will add auto-complete and spell-check features to in-site searches.
Google is also expanding its pricing options, dropping the entry-level price point for the service down to US$25,000 per year. The company hopes that the lower price point and timing of the release will attract online retailers lo/oking to update their sites in advance of the fall and winter buying seasons.
"As more consumers turn to online channels to purchase and research products, it’s important for your site to keep up with them using the best technology out there," said Google senior product manager Nitin Mangtani in a company blog posting.
