Google has revealed that it is planning an enterprise version of its Nexus One smartphone, released last week to much fanfare.
In a filmed interview for All Things Digital at CES last Friday, Google's vice president of engineering, Andy Rubin, said that his team is already looking to build on the Nexus One by providing different versions for different user types, including an enterprise version and a 'mass market' version.
"The definition of 'enterprise' is moving around a bit these days," he said. "An enterprise version of this device might be more appropriate for someone who is a super emailer, so it might have a physical keyboard on the front, or different characteristics for battery life. It might be a world phone for the traveller."
Google's much-anticipated Nexus One was launched last week in the US.
It is expected that Vodafone will announce details of how its customers can obtain a Nexus One on contract soon.
Google declined to provide further comment on a forthcoming enterprise version of the device.
"This is based on reports of an event at CES that Andy Rubin spoke at. We don't have anything to add to these reports for now," said a spokesman.
