G-Technology is shipping its new G-DRIVE and G-DRIVE mobile external storage solutions with Thunderbolt.
Both drives incorporate a high-performance 7200 RPM hard drive encased in an aluminum enclosure. They and are plug-and-play on Mac but can be reformatted for Windows.
The 4TB G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt features Thunderbolt and a USB 3.0 interface that delivers up to 165 MB/s sustained data transfer rates. It is a solution worth considering for storage-intensive applications like audio and video editing or digital photography.
Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 cables are included. The suggested retail price (RRP) is $469.95 for the 4TB and $349.95 for 3TB.
The G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt offers up to 1TB capacity and is bus-powered, so laptop users do not need to carry an external AC power supply. The drive delivers up to 136 MB/s sustained data transfer rates using Thunderbolt or USB 3.0.
The mobile drive comes with Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 cables and has an RRP of $259.95.
G-Technology is also shipping the G-DRIVE PRO with Thunderbolt. It delivers data transfer rates of up to 480 MB/s and is easily transportable for editing in the field or in the studio, and has dual Thunderbolt ports for daisy-chaining with other Thunderbolt-enabled devices. The 4TB version has an RRP of $999.95, or with 2TB for a RRP of $799.95.
