Check Point has launched free security checkups for Australian businesses, with any resulting work going to partners.
The on-site assessment will result in the participating business receiving a Security Checkup Report that "assesses an organisation’s current security status, reveals areas for improvement and provides a means to evaluate new information security technologies".
A spokesperson for the security vendor said that any remedial work arising from the assessment would be "100 percent driven by Check Point partners, with assistance from Check Point where required".
The Turnbull federal government last month announced a $230 million cybersecurity initiative that will provide free security checks for ASX100 companies and a $15 million allocation for small businesses. Check Point stated that its free diagnostic program would "align" with this and ensure "businesses do not miss out".
CRN has confirmed Check Point's scheme is global.
“It only takes one vulnerable host to infect an entire network. Yet according to Check Point research, 96 percent of the organisations we recently studied use at least one high-risk application,” said Check Point ANZ managing director David De Laine.
In March, the Israeli vendor revealed its new security management platform Check Point R80 at the RSA Conference in San Francisco. The quarter ending 31 March saw the company boost its revenue by 9 percent, to hit US$404 million for the period.
