Former EMC channel general manager Joergen Jakobsen joins Sophos

Sophos has appointed Joergen Jakobsen as the regional vice president for Asia-Pacific and Japan.

Jakobsen has 25 years of experience in the technology market and was most recently EMC's vice president and channel general manager for Asia-Pacific and Japan. He will be based in Singapore and will report to senior vice president of global sales Michael Valentine.

He joined EMC in 2011 and, during his time with the vendor, Jakobsen launched the EMC business partner program across the region.

Jakobsen had previously worked for Hewlett-Packard. He joined the company in 1989 and was vice president and general manager of the solution partner organization for Asia- Pacific and Japan when he moved to EMC. He worked for HP for 20 years.

"Organisations across APJ are looking for easy-to-use solutions that can protect them against the growing volume of sophisticated and persistent threats. I look forward to supporting our partners as they help businesses address the challenges of comprehensive IT protection today," said Jakobsen.

Michael Valentine, senior vice president of global sales at Sophos, said: "I am very pleased to welcome JJ to the Sophos senior sales and channel management team.
