Field Solutions Group to end FreshTel's VoIP services this month

Cloud provider Field Solutions Group is set to end its Freshtel VoIP service on 30 June and is encouraging all its users to switch providers to ensure service continuity.

The announcement was made through email, with options of other VoIP providers that customers can choose from, according to customers on internet forum Whirlpool.

“Freshtel has decided to exit the VoIP market and will be ending all VoIP services as of 30th June 2018,” the email read.

“Please arrange to move to another provider before the 30th to ensure continuity of service. Thank you for your past patronage.”

CRN has reached out to Field Solutions Group for comment.

Field Solutions Group announced last year that its VoIP service will be shed to focus on its core IT services business. The company was acquired by Freshtel Holdings in 2016, retaining its name following the merger.

Freshtel was founded in 2004 in Melbourne as one of the first companies to bring VoIP to Australia. The company since leased its VoIP operations to Melbourne-based Vixtel in 2010.

Earlier this year, Field Solutions Group acquired telco and modular data centre company South Western Wireless Communications, which called in administrators due to a lack of funding.
