Express Data subsidiary Express Online has farewelled a “small number” of staff following a business restructure related to its July 2011 merger with Simms International.
Express Online CEO Danny Moore confirmed to CRN duplicated roles across the business had been made redundant.
No figures were provided but Express Data CEO David Gage said the amount of workers let go represented a ‘very, very small’ percentage of the group’s overall headcount. He said the restructure was limited to Express Online and did not affect the rest of the Express Data group.
“We’re now 15 months into the newly integrated business with Simms International and the next natural phase is to more deeply align with the infrastructure that exists with Express Data,” Express Online’s Moore said.
“We’re looking at closer integration of the back office and we’ve repositioned our business around our three new business pillars [mobility, enterprise solutions and consumer solutions].”
Moore said the restructure eliminated duplicated roles the company had been carrying since the merger. He said the lion’s share of terminated positions were in the receivables, payables and corporate finance areas, with “very little” change made from a customer-facing perspective.
The longtime Simms International CEO, Moore was tapped to head the new entity created by the company's merger with Express Online in 2011.
