EXCLUSIVE: Symantec hands over consulting services

Symantec has chosen five resellers to take over its consulting services business in Australia.

Although the security software maker was not ready to reveal their names, CRN believed those anointed start training next month.

Speaking exclusively to CRN, David Dzienciol, Symantec's vice president of channel sales for Asia Pacific and Japan, said Symantec has trained resellers in seven cities across the Asia-Pacific.

In April, Symantec said that its consulting services will be handed over to certified partners.

"We have identified the Australian partners that will be going through the first set of enablement and training," Dzienciol said.

Symantec will then "formalise some of those contractual relationships", he said.

"I can't give the number of individuals that are training but we will have between four and five partners attend that training."

Reseller partners can also take on speciality competencies as part of Symantec's 12-month specialisation program.

"Today, what we want to do is have clarity," Dzienciol said. "If you're a services partner and a specialist, combining that together you will have a certain accreditation from Symantec to use and differentiate."

He said Symantec has "many partners delivering services today through their own service practice that include implementation and services around Symantec products".

This consultancy program is separate and "we continue to encourage our partners to drive their services business around Symantec".
