Ex-Telstra CISO on-board for security vendor's Aussie debut

Security vendor Cylance is making its debut in the Australian channel, with former Telstra figure Glenn Chisholm part of its senior team.

Cylance boasts former figures from Homeland Security, the US Navy and FBI among the ranks of its board, senior executives and advisors. Dell Ventures was a contributor to a US$42 million equity investment in the company.

While Cylance announced a Sydney office in 2013 to serve the Asia Pacific region, it has only now appointed its first reseller for Australia and New Zealand - Sydney reseller Aquion. Aquion is based in Mosman and also a Symantec Gold Partner and SolarWinds Platinum Partner.

Cylance calls its CylanceProtect endpoint protection products predictive and claims that they use less resources than other widely deployed antivirus products.

Chief security officer is Glenn Chisholm, who was Telstra’s chief information security officer and director of security operations from 2008 to 2012.

Cylance was founded by former McAfee global chief technology officer Stuart McClure, author of the book “Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions".

Senior Cylance figures also include Eric Cornelius, former deputy director and chief technical analyst for the Control Systems Security Program at the Department of Homeland Security.

Board members include retired Admiral William J. Fallon who was Commander US Central Command and Commander US Pacific Command for the Navy.

The Cylance board of advisors also includes Gordon Snow, former assistant director of the FBI’s Cyber Division.
