Ex-HP figure will have key role at DiData-Oakton powerhouse
Debra Bordignon

Dimension Data has hired former senior HP figure Debra Bordignon to what will be a key role in helping "create synergy" with acquisition target Oakton.

It is the first time in three years that DiData has had a local chief technology officer, after former CTO Gerard Florian transferred to DiData's global operations.

Bordignon's most recent role at HP was chief technologist and innovation leader within the APJ office of the CTO at HP Enterprise Services. Prior to HP, she has also held roles at Capgemini, Documentum EMC and Vignette.

She will be a "key player" in helping DiData Australia take a combined strategy to market with partner Oakton, said Dimension Data Australia CEO Rodd Cunico. The company has offered to buy Oakton for $171 million.

"I was looking for someone that understands both businesses and business models well, and very importantly would be a key player in working with me to create the synergy that comes from those two organisations coming together," Cunico said.

"If you look at the focus Oakton has in terms of very deep vertical expertise, very deep consulting expertise, and they obviously build and manage applications, Debra's skill set and background is going to be incredibly important to the bridging of how we take a combined strategy to market."

Cunico said the search had taken approximately six months, adding that finding the right candidate was a very difficult process.

"She has certainly published a lot of papers and is an incredibly well-regarded leader in the ICT sector and has helped many government and enterprise clients with their strategies in areas around things like the next generation information worker, collaboration as a service and the like," Cunico said.
