EMC Australia's channel chief promoted to top role

EMC's Australian channel chief, Mark Fioretto, will take a plum role at the combined company, stepping up as Dell EMC's enterprise lead for Australia and New Zealand from February 2017.

Fioretto has spent the past two and a half years as EMC's general manager service providers, systems integrators and alliances. He will now become, essentially, EMC's country manager, replacing Alister Dias, who vacated the role in January to become ANZ managing director of sister company VMware.

After Dias departed, EMC's APJ president David Webster – who is now Dell EMC APJ president – had "managed the legacy EMC ANZ business through the selection of a new leader".

Fioretto, who will report to Webster, said: "There is an unprecedented opportunity for companies that successfully transform their IT. The combined Dell EMC team will provide unprecedented technology and support to customers embarking on their digital transformation."

The company has not revealed who will step into Fioretto's shoes as Australian channel chief. At EMC World in May 2016, it was announced that the two companies would merge "the best elements of the Dell PartnerDirect Program and EMC’s Business Partner Program".

Geoff Wright, who was appointed as Dell's general manager ANZ channels and alliances in April 2015, will continue in his existing role, as will Brett Harris, EMC's general manager, midmarket, inside sales and distribution.

Meanwhile, Dell country manager Angela Fox will get a new title as the head of the ANZ commercial team at Dell EMC. Dell EMC will operate in two divisions – enterprise and commercial – with Fioretto heading up one and Fox leading the other.

Fox, who replaced Joe Kremer in June 2014, "will continue to lead the ANZ commercial team in the new Dell EMC business", according to a statement. Fox will report to Amit Midha, president, APJ commercial business, Dell EMC.

Fox said: “Both companies have had long, successful histories in Australia and New Zealand, and with ANZ recognised as a mature market, it is poised to take full advantage of Dell Technologies unique set of solutions to help customers along their path of digital transformation."

The two positions offer the first indications of the management structure for the combined company after the historic merger, which created a global company with revenue of more than US$70 billion.

Dell, Dell EMC and its sister companies all come under the umbrella of Dell Technologies, though this entity has only one employee – Michael Dell.

Other Australian leaders remain in the roles they held before the merger.

Alister Dias leads VMware Australia, with Kerrie-Anne Turner as head of channels and general business. Antoine Le Tard leads security operation RSA, with Jonathan Christopher as head of channel and alliance. Gavin Jones leads Pivotal, a role he took in April 2014.
