Expressions of interest for the tender was opened on 27 February and closed on 3 April this year.
In a statement to the ASX, Danny Wallis CEO/managing director of DWS, said, the PRS is part of the Metrol Replacement Project, a DOT initiative to upgrade the real-time systems used for train control and monitoring of the Melbourne metropolitan train network.
“The project commenced in December 2008 and is valued at $5.3 million, with provisional acceptance to be completed by February 2010,” he stated.
According to Wallis, the tender win comes off the back of a number of smaller projects for the local IT service provider, with various state and federal government agencies.
“The current DWS tender pipeline is strong with some $50 million worth of tenders submitted, but not yet won,” he said.
Wallis said the company was performing as budgeted – state wide in the current year, with the exception of Sydney.
“Having restructured the Sydney business in October and November, we expect it will return to normal trading at normal margins during the second half of financial year 2009,” he claimed.
