Dimension Data cuts 76 Australian staff, ships roles to India

Dimension Data has retrenched 76 Australian staff, to centralise functions to India.

"Dimension Data Australia is aligning with the global Central Delivery Organisation (CDO), resulting in the retrenchment of 76 people from our support delivery team," said a Dimension Data Australia spokesperson.

The company confirmed that the Central Delivery Organisation office in Bengaluru, India is absorbing the functions of the terminated Australian staff.

"Specialist client services will continue to be provided by our Australian-based team," said the spokesperson, adding that the company is providing "support and resources" to employees affected by the restructure.

The reduction in Australian head count comes after CRN reported in February that 300 jobs would be added globally, as part of Dimension Data's data centre offensive. As of late last year, Dimension Data Australia had 1,800 staff with the Oakton acquisition to add another 1,150 employees to the family.
