Dicker Data has become Quest Software's sole distributor in Australia.

Founded in 1987, Quest Software was acquired by Dell in 2012 to form the Dell Software division. Following Dell's acquisition of EMC, Dell sold Quest to private equity firm Francisco Partners and financial services provider Elliott Management, which saw Quest come back as an independent company in November.

According to Quest managing director Klasie Holtzhausen, this is a brand new partnership, through which Dicker Data will have access to Quest's full portfolio.

Holtzhausen said Dicker Data's extensive partner network would help Quest bring its IT management capabilities to mid-to-large enterprises in Australia and New Zealand.

"As more organisations leverage the cloud, deploy mobile applications and virtualisation, our priority is to empower those businesses to spend less time on administration and more time on innovation," he said.

Quest has a "strong footprint" in Australia, according to Holtzhausen. The company has a research and development centre in Melbourne.

According to Dicker Data chairman and chief executive David Dicker, Quest's range is a "strategic fit" for its resellers.

"Our enterprise and mid-market business continues to grow at a pleasing rate which is driving demand for the solutions offered by Quest," he said.
