Di-Data golf day raises $100,000 for charity
The charity supports seriously ill children and their families throughout Australia.

The money was raised through event sponsorship from organisations including APC, Blue Coat Systems, Cisco, EMC, Intel, K2, McAfee, NetApp, Riverbed Technology, Symantec, TANDBERG, TeleWare, Trend Micro and VMware.

In addition, over $13,000 was raised from player contributions on the day itself.

Martin Aungle corporate communications manager for Dimension Data said over 110 golfers from Dimension Data’s client and vendor community participated in the event.

He said one of the golfing highlights was Dimension Data CEO Steve Nola hitting the flag on the par five and denying himself an eagle and another notable incident was one golfer missing the Lexus RX400h hole-in-one prize by just 31cm.

“Thanks mostly to amazing generosity from our vendor partners we raised $100,000 for Starlight,” said Aungle.

“I would like to thank everyone that gave up their time to help out and make it such a successful event," said Pete Murray, NSW state manager, Dimension Data.

"In particular I want to thank our event organisers Melanie Abbott and Lilla Pizzolato, as without their undying commitment over two previously postponed attempts, we would never have had such a magnificent day,” he added.

In an email to Dimension Data after the event, Starlight CEO Jill Weekes wrote: "Thankyou so much on behalf of all the seriously ill children and families who will benefit from a wonderful golf day. $100,000 is a fantastic result and we are so appreciative of your support and all the effort that went into ensuring the day was a success on every front.

“Starlight is very fortunate to have such a great partner and we thank you for sharing our vision of brightening the lives of these children who so badly need our help."
