Backup and disaster recover vendor Datto has hired Kultar Khatra as its ANZ channel manager.
Khatra comes to Datto after two years as ANZ channel manager for US-based software vendor Embarcadero Technologies. Prior to that, he was an ANZ account manager for Trend Micro.
“Datto appealed to me as an emerging business with an exceptional end-to-end technology with 100 percent channel focus and commitment and a new solution that resolves the BDR issues with MSPs,” said Khatra.
Datto launched its Australian operations in September after hiring former N-Able salesman James Bergl to lead the local expansion.
The vendor has already hired four staff to cover Australia and New Zealand, and hopes to expand the team to 15 by the end of next year.
Bergl told CRN around 15 to 20 resellers have signed on to sell Datto products so far, though is yet to announce a local distributor.
“We’ve been very aggressive coming in to the market and trying to bring on new partners and we’ve had the support from our headquarters to actually give away our flagship product and that’s been hugely successful because that takes away the overhead upfront,” said Bergl.
Bergl also announced Datto is partnering with Equnix’s to deliver its cloud services through its data centre in Alexandria. Datto is also in the midst of establishing its first Australian office in the Sydney CBD.
Based in Connecticut, Datto provides backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions with operations in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
