Data#3 refits for deskless workforce

Data#3 will open its new West Perth premises in time for a board meeting scheduled for late this month, the integrator's managing director John Grant has revealed.

The ASX-listed national integrator planned to move into a facility that Grant claimed was “four times bigger".

Grant told CRN that the Western Australian business had grown from nine staff to 17 in the past financial year - a mix of sales and pre-sales staff.

The office move was "a combination of a strong Western Australian economy and a great licensing business,” he said.

At the same time, Data#3 was expanding its Sydney office and also relocating to new premises in Brisbane.

Grant said Data#3 has taken extra space in its North Sydney office and added a further five years to its lease term.

The Brisbane office will move to new premises, “our own building”, which is adjacent to its current office in Toowong.

“There is no dislocation, it’s fantastic. We’ve done a complete refit," he said.

According to Grant, creating a mobile workforce was a key driver.

“No executive has an office," he said. “It’s not about hot desks, it’s about collaboration and mobility.”

“We already have smartphones and we’re introducing tablets.

“We put a lot of work into understanding the pros and cons,” he said.

“And, we’re overlaying it to Sydney. The benefit of the three offices is that they will all look the same. It’s an adventurous project and it’s exciting.”

Meanwhile, Grant said the company has also invested in warehousing and configuration space in Sydney and Melbourne.

"We're finalising a new [warehouse] in Sydney which is double in size," he said.

In its annual general meeting report, Grant announced that Data#3 founder Terry Powell was reappointed to the company's board.

Last week Data#3 said its first half profit forecast was up by 50 percent compared to FY09/10.
