CyberCX has appointed two new industry leads to strengthen its sector-specific cyber security expertise amid rising threats to Australian businesses.

Director of strategic communications Megan Lane will head the Healthcare and Aged Care division, while executive director Grant Walsh takes charge of the Telecommunications, Media and Technology segment.

The cyber security provider has also expanded Michael Mammana's role, with the Defence and Aerospace lead now overseeing Transport and Logistics.

"The delivery of safe modern medicine is underpinned by secure technology that powers our hospitals, aged care facilities, medical devices and research institutes amongst others," Lane said.

"In few other sectors do decisions made about technology and its security have the ability to so profoundly impact human lives and wellbeing", Lane added.

"Cyber criminals are indiscriminate and hit all parts of the Australian economy, but a blanket, one-size fits all approach to protecting and securing our communities is not fit for purpose", said Alex Hoffmann, executive director of the industry lead group at CyberCX.

Walsh meanwhile pointed to the increasing cyber risks facing Australia's telecommunications sector.

"Through my career I've watched firsthand as the sector has grappled with challenges – ranging from floods, bushfires, and tropical storms to significant national security threats", said Walsh, director in the commercial and solutions group of CyberCX.

The appointments are part of CyberCX's industry-aligned structure, which now features 12 industry leads across sectors including financial services, defence, government and education.

Each industry lead brings sector-specific expertise, produces thought leadership, works with boards and executives, and supports client projects.

CyberCX employs around 1400 cyber security professionals across Australia and New Zealand, including nearly 200 in New Zealand.
