Only 15 days remain until the application closing date for the federal government's Growing and Professionalising the Cyber Security Industry Program grant.
The program offers up to $1.9 million in funding to design, pilot, test and promote a self-sustaining, industry professionalisation scheme, and the deadline is Wednesday, 29 January 2025 at 5:00 pm AEDT.
It is part of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, aims to address industry calls for greater clarity on how cyber security qualifications and skills align with industry needs.
The program will provide funding over two years, from 2024-25 to 2025-26.
Goods and services tax registered entities incorporated in Australia with ABN business numbers and apply for the grant.
The grant provides up to $1.9 million to cover up to 100 per cent of eligible expenditures.
This includes costs for items such as labour, administrative overhead, project management activities, contract expenditure and some travel.
Staff training to support project outcomes is covered, ditto purchase of computers and software, and other hardware directly related to the activities.
Organisations are expected to develop and deliver a pilot cyber security professionalisation scheme, and establish and involve an industry-led co-design team or involve an existing consortium of cyber industry representatives.
They should also research comparable schemes internationally and in similar industries.
On top of the above, applicants should conduct, monitor, and evaluate the pilot scheme and provide a strategy for how the scheme will be expanded nationally and become self-sustaining.
Projects should incorporate existing skills and experience across the cyber workforce, including technical, non-technical, and transferable skills.
The scheme should also consider alignment with international best practice skills frameworks, existing professional accreditation schemes, and the Australian Universities Accord Final Report.
